Open call for presenters for the ‘Weird and Wonderful World of Korea’ series.

The Korean cultural centre is pleased to host ‘the Weird and Wonderful World of Korea’ monthly K-culture video series. And we are looking for presenters for the series. You will be tasked with presenting an episode of ‘the Weird and Wonderful World of Korea’, in fun, informative and engaging ways to capture the audience’s attention. If you are passionate about Korea and excited to talk about K-Culture in front of a camera, we would love to hear from you!!

[Requirements]

  • Able to visit Korean Culture Centre (Unit 101, 150 Elgin Street, Ottawa, ON) for filming.
  • Proficiency in spoken English; French is beneficial but not necessary
  • Comfortable with filming.
  • Diverse interest in Korean culture, Korean society, and Korea-Canada relations.

*It will take approximately 1hour for pre-meeting / 2hours for filming.

Cultural Embassy of the Republic of South Korea

This year, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the relations between Iran and South Korea, we decided to run a logo design contest.

This logo should be designed with the theme of the 60th anniversary of Iran-South Korea relations.

We ask all of you dear ones who are interested in participating in this contest to pay attention to the following:

  1. The competition starts today, February 15, and the submission deadline is February 28.
  2. Send your logo design photo along with its quality file to the Telegram ID of the cultural section, ie: @Koreanculture_iran.
  3. All rights reserved for the use of the selected logo for the embassy, ​​and after selecting the logo, the esteemed designer may be asked to change parts of the design if necessary, or the embassy may, if necessary, edit and change the selected logo. Therefore, the designer is obliged to provide the relevant files to the embassy.
  4. At the end, the selected logo designer is asked to provide his design with a high quality file to the embassy.
  5. Prizes will be awarded to the top three projects in the following order:
    1. first one: Samsung Galaxy TabS7
    2. second person: Samsung Galaxy Tab A8
    3. Third person: Samsung Galaxy Watch

Kartini's Letter Translation Competition

안녕하세요~!

Welcoming the commemoration of Kartini Day this year, KCC Indonesia held a "Kartini Letter Translation Competition" and invited KCCI Friends to translate Kartini's Letter from Indonesian to Korean.

REGISTRATION PERIOD AND SUBMISSION OF WORKS:

3 February – 31 March 2022

TRANSLATED MATERIALS

Kartini's letter in the book "After Dark Comes Light"

  • Each participant chooses 3 groups of letters (1 group of short letters, 1 group of medium letters, and 1 group of long letters) based on category. Each participant translates the title of the book "After Dark Comes Light"
  • Each participant translates the selected letter from Indonesian into Korean (including chapter title, date, and recipient of the letter).
  • The choice of groups of short/medium/long letters according to category can be seen in the attached table.

PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION OF TRANSLATION RESULTS

  • Register via bit.ly/suratkartini
  • Attaching a PDF file containing:
    • The original text of Kartini's letter (in Indonesian)
      • Welcome to be retyped or scanned.
      • When typed, the font conditions: Times New Roman 12pt (for text in the alphabet/ Indonesian language)
    • Subtitles are written in Korean
      • Font Requirements: Bar 10pt (for text in Hangul/ Korean)
    • Participants are allowed to take Kartini's letter from various sources, without any provisions for a particular book publisher.
  • File Conditions:
    • PDF, A4
    • Margins: Normal (Line spacing 1.15)
    • Max size 10 Mb
  • Must include identity and letter details:
    • Participant Name, Category, and Letter Group Details (Chapter Title, Letter Date, Recipient)

The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) is pleased to announce the "32nd & 33rd AKS Summer Program for International Students." As an important part of our mission is to cultivate young leaders, who can contribute to the development of Korean studies, the academy has organized an intensive summer program for international undergraduate students in Korean studies. This program is composed of various components, such as special lectures on Korea, intensive Korean language courses, field trips, excursions, and traditional cultural activities. Since its starting in 1993, we held the program 31 times and 908 students from over 70 countries attended the program.

In 2021, in light of the COVID-19 situation, real-time Korean language classes and special lectures on Korean studies were conducted online and received positive comments from participants. The COVID-19 situation is expected to continue in 2022; thus, the program will be conducted in the same way (online) as in 2021.

If you want to participate in an AKS Summer Program for International Students that will be held twice online during summer vacation, please refer to the following and apply.

※Those who are in graduate school or hold Korean nationality are not eligible for this program.

※For those who took Korea-related courses, the course names should be specified in the transcript.

※If the applicant’s university does not offer Korean Studies major or Korea-related courses, a Korean language institute certificate can be substituted for a university transcript.

To enter this contest, you can see the following details:

Participant Requirements:

Acapella Group consists of Indonesian citizens under the age of 19 years.

Groups consist of 3 to a maximum of 5 people.

Work Requirements:

  • K-Pop songs that are sung contain 80% Korean lyrics.
  • Upload Acapella's work on the drive feature and send the link via the contest registration link.
  • Make sure the sound in the displayed work is 100% original sound (unedited sound) and without additional music.
  • Make sure your Acapella works are made as attractive as possible.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) is recruiting Honorary Reporters who are passionate content creators with great love and knowledge of Korea and Korean culture!

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the KCC is recruiting Honorary Reporters who are passionate content creators with great love and knowledge of Korea and Korean culture!

As an Honorary Reporter, you will be invited to attend various events (both online and offline) and initiatives hosted by the Korean Embassy and the KCC, write about the events and your experiences of them and share them with fellow Canadians.

In addition, you are free to create your online content related to any topic of Korea you are interested in, be it foods, culture, K-dramas, beauty, etc! Share them via social media. The KCC will also post your content on its homepage to share with a broader audience.

With your talents, you will inform Canadians of various Korean cultural activities, encourage their future participation, and ultimately invite others to become a part of the movement to build positive Korea-Canada relations.

If you are passionate about Korea and excited to share your enthusiasm with others, we would love to hear from you!

Qualifications

  • Willing to attend online and offline (only applicable to Ottawa residents) Korean Embassy and Korean Cultural Centre events
  • Active social media presence is preferred
  • Apt at digital communications and creative-writing
  • Proficiency in writing, social media management, photography and/or video editing
  • Diverse interests in Korean culture, Korean society, and Korea-Canada relations

Activities

  • Attend and write about the Korean Embassy and the KCC activities assigned by the Honorary Reporter Coordinator. Reports are to be told in an easy-to-read, attractive, storytelling format 
  • Discover and write about various Korea-related stories in Canada. E.g., Korea-related stories in local newspapers, interesting stories of Korean immigrants, interesting Canadians with deep ties to Korea, etc. that will interest Canadian audiences 
  • Create personal media contents (blog, photo journal, videos, Tik Tok, Reels, etc.) about Korea-related topics 
  • All contents are to be posted either in English or French
